Into King Harald’s Dream
2020 _ On Journey Studio
On Journey Studio is an occasional design studio [founded] by Agnete Kristine Enghoff Beierholm, Louissia Anais Bulver, and Lijing Jiang in 2020.
This project is designed for a new experimental area alongside Kongernes Jelling which is known as the home of Viking Kings. Unlike a traditional museum experience where visitors look at and read about historical figures and events, we invite people to feel, empathize, and reflect in an immersive and imaginary world.
Into King Harald’s Dreams is a multisensorial experience for people to enter dreams of an important figure in Danish history - King Harald Bluetooth. Visitors will be immersed in Harald’s thoughts and emotions while having embodied explorations.
8 different dreams are consisting of 3 layers – mist, subconscious, and surreal layer. ‘Mist’ is formed by layers of translucent fabrics filled the entire area; subconscious is the thoughts and feelings that might appear in Harald’s dreams based on historical findings and sagas; the surreal layer is based on speculation and imagination about Vikings.
Enter Dream of Comfort - Entering this dream, people will hear King Harald's voice talking in their headphones.
Inside Dream of Comfort - Sounds coming out from soft objects are telling stories about King Harald's life.
Dream of Dilemma - In this dream, facing Harald's dilemma of converting Vikings into Christian.
